Air Fryer Apple Slices! These crispy, naturally sweet apple chips are a guilt-free indulgence made with minimal oil and simple ingredients.
Perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth, these air-fried slices offer a delightful balance of chewy texture and caramelized edges, making them a delicious and nutritious alternative to store-bought chips or candy.
Ingredients
- 2-3 apples (your favorite type)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar (optional)
- Nonstick cooking spray (optional)
Instructions
1. Wash and dry your apples thoroughly.
2. Slice the apples thinly and evenly. You can use a mandoline for the best results, but a sharp knife will work too. Aim for slices around 1/8 inch thick.
3. (Optional) In a bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugar. Sprinkle this mixture over the apple slices, coating them evenly on both sides.
4. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray (not necessary, but helps with browning).
5. Arrange the apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap.
6. Air fry at 380°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes.
7. Flip the apple slices halfway through cooking for even browning.
8. Once the timer goes off, check the slices. They should be slightly browned and crispy. If not, cook for a few more minutes, checking frequently to avoid burning.
9. Remove the apple slices from the air fryer and let them cool completely on a wire rack. They will crisp up more as they cool.
Tips
- For sweeter chips, you can increase the amount of sugar to your taste.
- Don’t overcrowd the basket, as this will prevent even cooking and crisping. Cook the slices in batches if needed.
- You can experiment with different spices like nutmeg, ginger, or even a pinch of cayenne pepper for a kick.
- Enjoy your homemade air fryer apple chips as a healthy snack!
