A deliciously crispy and flavorful plant-based burger that’s easy to make in your air fryer! Packed with protein-rich black beans, savory spices, and fresh veggies, this burger is a satisfying, healthier alternative to traditional meat burgers. Perfect for lunch, dinner, or even a backyard BBQ!
Ingredients:
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or gluten-free breadcrumbs)
- 1/4 cup grated carrot
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari (for gluten-free)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil spray (for air frying)
Instructions:
Prepare the Black Beans:
In a large mixing bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth with some chunks remaining.
Add the Veggies and Spices:
To the mashed beans, add the breadcrumbs, grated carrot, chopped onion, minced garlic, soy sauce, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until fully combined.
Form the Patties:
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty, about 1/2 inch thick. If the mixture feels too wet, add a little more breadcrumbs to help it hold together.
Preheat the Air Fryer:
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes.
Air Fry the Patties:
Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil. Place the patties in the basket, ensuring they don’t overlap. Spray the tops of the patties with a little more olive oil.
Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy on the outside.
Serve:
Once cooked, remove the patties from the air fryer and assemble your burgers with your favorite buns, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and condiments.
Enjoy your crispy, flavorful air fryer black bean burger!
