Air Fryer Caprese Grilled Cheese: A Gourmet Twist on a Classic

This Air Fryer Caprese Grilled Cheese is a crispy, cheesy delight that combines the flavors of a classic Caprese salad with the gooey comfort of a grilled cheese sandwich. Fresh basil, juicy tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze take this sandwich to the next level. Perfect for a quick lunch or light dinner!

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread (sourdough or your favorite type)
  • 2–3 slices of fresh mozzarella
  • 2–3 slices of tomato
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • 1–2 teaspoons balsamic glaze
  • Butter (softened, for spreading)
  • Optional: salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Prep the Ingredients
Lay out your bread slices and spread butter on one side of each slice. On the unbuttered side of one slice, layer mozzarella slices, tomato, and fresh basil leaves. Drizzle with balsamic glaze and sprinkle with a little salt and pepper if desired.

Assemble the Sandwich
Place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side facing outward. Press gently to keep everything together.

Preheat the Air Fryer
Set your air fryer to 370°F (190°C) and allow it to preheat for about 2–3 minutes.

Air Fry the Sandwich
Place the sandwich in the air fryer basket. Air fry for 3–4 minutes, then carefully flip the sandwich using tongs or a spatula. Cook for another 3–4 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese is melted.

Cool and Serve
Remove the sandwich from the air fryer and let it cool for a minute before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!

Pro Tip: For an extra crunch, sprinkle some grated Parmesan on the buttered side of the bread before air frying!
