Ingredients:
- 2 white fish fillets (such as cod or haddock)
- 2 large potatoes, cut into fries
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crisp)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tsp paprika (optional)
- Olive oil spray
- Lemon wedges (for serving)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Potatoes:
- Cut the potatoes into even fries.
- Soak them in cold water for about 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry.
2. Preheat the Air Fryer:
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for a few minutes.
3. Cook the Fries:
- Toss the dried fries with olive oil spray, salt, and pepper.
- Place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking halfway through, until golden and crispy. Set aside once done.
4. Prepare the Fish:
- Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels.
- Season the fish with salt, pepper, and paprika (if using).
5. Set up the Coating Station:
- Place flour in one shallow dish.
- Beat the egg in a second dish.
- Put breadcrumbs in a third dish.
6. Coat the Fish:
- Dredge each fish fillet in flour, then dip into the beaten egg, and finally coat it in the breadcrumbs, pressing lightly to ensure the crumbs stick.
7. Air Fry the Fish:
- Lightly spray both sides of the breaded fish with olive oil spray.
- Place the fish fillets in the air fryer basket.
- Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fish is golden brown and cooked through.
8. Serve:
- Plate the crispy fish alongside the fries.
- Serve with lemon wedges and your favorite dipping sauce, like tartar sauce or ketchup.
Enjoy your homemade fish and chips!
