Ingredients
- 6 slices of bread (preferably white or whole wheat)
- 1/2 cup strawberry jam or fresh strawberries, mashed
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/4 cup sugar
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Directions
Prepare the bread:
Trim the crusts off the slices of bread and gently flatten them with a rolling pin.
Fill the bread:
Spread a thin layer of strawberry jam or mashed fresh strawberries onto each piece of flattened bread.
Roll up the bread:
Carefully roll each slice of bread into a tight cylinder, securing the filling inside.
Make the batter:
In a shallow bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.
Coat the roll-ups:
Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, making sure it’s fully coated.
Air fry the roll-ups:
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place the roll-ups in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Lightly spray with cooking spray or drizzle with melted butter.
Cook:
Air fry for about 5-7 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
Finish and serve:
In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon. Once the roll-ups are cooked, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm. Enjoy your sweet and crispy breakfast treat!
