Ingredients

  • 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs panko or regular
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the chicken

  • Start by placing the chicken breasts between two pieces of plastic wrap or parchment paper. Use a meat mallet or rolling pin to gently pound them to an even thickness, about 1/2 inch thick. This will help the chicken cook evenly.

Step 2: Assemble the chicken cordon bleu

  • Lay a slice of ham on each chicken breast. Place two slices of Swiss cheese on top of the ham. Carefully fold the chicken around the ham and cheese to create a secure roll. You can secure the edges with toothpicks if needed.

Step 3: Dredge the chicken

  • In a shallow dish, place the flour. Season it with a pinch of salt and pepper. In another dish, beat the egg. In a third dish, pour the breadcrumbs. Take each chicken roll and first coat it lightly in the flour, then dip it in the egg, and finally coat it in the breadcrumbs. Make sure each piece is well-coated for that crispy texture.

Step 4: Air fry the chicken

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the chicken rolls in the air fryer basket, making sure they aren’t touching each other. Air fry for about 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.

Step 5: Serve and enjoy!

  • Once the chicken is cooked, let it rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the cheese to set and prevents any hot cheese from spilling out when you cut into it. Slice and serve with your favorite sides!
