Lasagna is a delicious combination of pasta and ground meat. There is no doubt that people enjoy lasagna, and if you haven’t tried it yet, this is an excellent opportunity to do so. Simply gather all the ingredients and follow the instructions; if you are vegetarian, there is a vegetarian style variation for you.

Ingredients

  • 1 package of lasagne noodles
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1/3 finely chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Maggi sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • tomato sauce or paste
  • 4 chopped tomatoes
  • Ricotta cheese
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Parmesan cheese
  • 1 bell pepper

Instructions

1. Prepare pasta water: Place water and salt in a large pot and bring to a boil. It will take some time, so prepare the sauce with the ground meat in the meantime. Wait for the pasta water to boil.

2. Season the ground beef: Prepare the ground beef before cooking it. Combine ground garlic, a pinch of minced black pepper, Maggi sauce, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, and salt in a mixing bowl. Combine the ground beef and seasonings.

3. Cook the ground beef: Preheat vegetable oil in a large skillet, then add chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Then add the seasoned ground beef and stir fry until it begins to brown. Following that, add the chopped red bell pepper, chopped tomatoes, and tomato sauce. Simmer the sauce with the ground beef for a few minutes longer, until it is boiling.

4. Boil the lasagna noodles: When the pasta water is boiling, add the noodles and cook until al dente. Stir occasionally to ensure they are not sticking. To prevent sticking, add 2 tablespoons of oil when the pasta water comes to a boil. Drain the water once the lasagna noodles are al dente. Allow them to drip into a colander and cool. If the lasagna noodles are still stuck together, separate them.

5. Arrange the lasagna: Assemble the lasagna noodles in one layer in a casserole or lasagna dish. Drizzle Mozzarella, Ricotta, and Parmesan cheese over that layer of noodles. Over the noodles, ladle a cup of ground meat.

Then, on top of it, add a second layer of noodles. Continue to add more Mozzarella, Ricotta, and Parmesan cheese to the mixture. Then another layer of ground beef.

If there are any leftover ingredients, repeat the process. As the last layer, add the three types of cheese. Carefully cover it with aluminum foil.

6. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake the lasagna for 30 minutes. Before the timer runs out, check to see if it’s done with a fork. This lasagna is done when a fork easily slides through it. If you want the top of the lasagna to be crunchy, uncover it for the last few minutes of baking.

Because the noodles can dry out and lose moisture, and the cheese cooks faster than the other ingredients, do not uncover them from the start.

7. Serve: When the cheese begins to bubble and brown, remove it from the oven. Let cool before serving.

How to cook lasagna?

It appears to have a lot of ingredients and steps, but all you have to do is learn the directions and how to spice up the ground meat, and that’s it. This is a simple procedure!

There are two options for baking the lasagna: uncooked noodles or cooked noodles. It means that in this recipe, I include a step in which the lasagne noodles are brought to a boil. Other recipes, however, place the noodles directly in the oven without first boiling them.

The baking times will differ as a result of these considerations. Also, because uncooked noodles require more moisture in the oven, they will absorb more water than cooked noodles. As a result, more sauce is required for perfect cooking.

While baking, it is difficult to determine when the lasagna is done. To determine this, prick the pasta with a fork and it will easily slide out when it is time to remove your lasagna. Another consideration is to use a thermometer to check the internal temperature; if it registers 165–175ºF, the dish is done.

Not only does the temperature affect baking, but so does the number of layers, whether we use cooked or uncooked noodles, and whether we substitute vegetables for ground meat. All of these factors are important when deciding to make a lasagna.

Following are some baking times based on some variations of this recipe.

Cooked noodles

Of course, if we use cooked lasagna noodles, they will take less time to bake in the oven than uncooked lasagna noodles. It will take approximately 30-45 minutes in this case.

No-boil noodles

If you want to assemble your lasagna right away, baking it will take longer, but not as much as you think. In this case, it may take 45-60 minutes to prepare.
