Ingredients

  • 4 apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or your favorite)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter or vegan butter (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon rolled oats (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (180°C).

2 Wash the apples and remove any stickers.

3. Cut the apples in half through the stem.

4. Core the apples, removing the seeds and flesh from the center. You can use a spoon or a special apple corer for this.

5. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter (if using), maple syrup, cinnamon, and optional ingredients like oats, nutmeg, and salt.

6. Brush the cut sides of the apples with the mixture.

7. (Optional) Spoon the remaining mixture into the hollowed-out center of each apple half.

8. Place the apple halves carefully in the basket of your air fryer.

9. Air fry for 12-15 minutes, or until the apples are tender and cooked through. You can check for doneness by inserting a fork into the apple; it should go in easily.

10. Shake the basket halfway through cooking for even browning.

11. Remove the apples from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving.

Tips

  • For softer apples, cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  • If the topping starts to brown too quickly, cover the apples loosely with foil.
  • Serve warm with your favorite toppings like vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chopped nuts, or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
